Ultimate Black Panther
Ultimate Black Panther comes from writer Bryan Hill and artist Stefano Caselli. It kicks off in a Wakanda that has yet to reveal itself to the world. Under the rule of King T’Challa, the nation prospers in the shadows. However, Khnosu and Ra, the entities known together as Moon Knight, are attempting to expand their control on the African Continent.
This brutal attempt to seize control forces T’Challa and all of Wakanda out of the shadows. Speaking about the series, Hill shared that he is influenced by the entire history of Black Panther. This includes all the comics, as well as Ryan Coogler’s two films. He also draws inspiration from the worldbuilding seen in Frank Herbert’s Dune. The writer promises something new and unexpected from this Ultimate series.
The Ultimate Universe
Ultimate Black Panther is part of Marvel’s Ultimate Universe. This line branches out of Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch’s Ultimate Invasion. Additionally, the new Black Panther series is only the second series to come from this new Ultimate line. It follows Ultimate Spider-Man, which launches in January.
It all began with the Maker traveling through time on a parallel Earth. The villain’s goal was to make a world where heroes did not exist. Ultimately, he succeeded and ruled this hero-less world. Now, the Maker has seemingly vanished, and a new war has broken out amongst those that remain. Each is vying to seize the power left behind by the Maker’s sudden disappearance.
Ultimate Black Panther #1 is on sale 2/07.
