Marvel Comics announced the new Ultimate Spider-Man comics will center on Peter Parker with a family. Spider-Man has wed Mary Jane Watson and has children with her. The new Ultimate Comics line takes place in Universe 6160 and is spearheaded by Marvel Comic superstar Johnathan Hickman. The comic creator will be writing the new Ultimate Spider-Man comic that is set to release early next year. Hickman explains he wants the Ultimate universe to focus on a different kind of Spider-Man story than the main universe.
Ultimate Spider-Man Will Star Mr. and Mrs. Parker
Marvel Comics shared the news on the official Marvel website. The post shared new cover art for Ultimate Spider-Man that shows Spider-Man and Mary Jane together. The alternate Ryan Stegman cover art shows Peter and MJ with their two kids, an older boy and a younger girl.
The new Marvel Ultimate universe occurs in a different world than the mainstream Marvel Earth. Whereas the main universe is designated Earth 616, the new Ultimate Universe is 6160. The original Ultimate Comics line from the early 2000s was set 1610. The new Ultimate Universe line is a reboot of the franchise, featuring new storylines and characterizations.
The initial Ultimate Universe starred a teenage Peter Parker who had juggled his life as a high schooler with being a superhero. Miles Morales eventually replaced Peter Parker. Morales then transferred to the main Marvel Universe. The original Ultimate Comics had disappeared in the last several years before Hickman created the reboot series with Ultimate Invasion.
Since One More Day took away Spider-Man’s marriage to Mary Jane, fans have clamored for a comic where he’s married and has children. Peter Parker has remained single in the comics since 2007. Marvel has released several alternate universe comics starring a married Spider-Man, including Renew Your Vows.
Many fans, including ourselves, are ecstatic to see a married Peter Parker in the Ultimate line. Spider-Man and MJ are one of the best couples in comic books, and we can’t wait to see what Hickman would bring to that dynamic.
Ultimate Spider-Man #1 will launch on January 10, 2024. The comics will be written by Hickman and drawn by Marco Checchetto.
