Dark Horse is teaming up with Studio71 Games to release a card game based on the popular comic, The Umbrella Academy. The Kickstarter campaign page for the game is now live. And it blew past its funding goal of $30,000 in under an hour. In addition to different editions, which are now available for pre-order, the Kickstarter page also comes with a trailer for the game. The Standard Edition for The Umbrella Academy card game is $25. It will include the box, tray, rule sheet, and 199 playing cards. The Deluxe Edition is $45. It includes everything from the Standard Edition along with a 7″ x 14″ game board and 8 custom plastic tokens. Finally, the Collector’s Edition is $75. It includes everything from the Deluxe Edition with an updated tray and metallic cards. It also comes with a custom color UA enamel pin set and Vol. 1 of The Umbrella Academy with a new cover by artist Gabriel Bá.

In a statement, Bá and writer Gerard Way had this to say:

We are thrilled with the continued fan response and reception to The Umbrella Academy. Our love for these stories and characters is what makes us excited for you all to get to experience them first hand with the Studio71 Umbrella Academy Card Game.”

Way and Bá launched The Umbrella Academy with Dark Horse in 2007. It became a big hit and earned the Eisner Award for Best Limited Series in 2008. The pair released a second volume in 2008 but wouldn’t release a third until 2018. A fourth is currently in development.

Netflix adapted the comic into a TV series, the first season of which released in 2019. Netflix announced the show had been viewed by over 45 million member households within its first month. This quickly led to a second season being greenlit, which will air on July 31st.
