The full main cast and crew are confirmed to return for The Umbrella Academy season 2. This includes showrunner Steve Blackman. Production for the upcoming season begins this Summer.
A renewal for The Umbrella Academy shouldn’t be a shock to anyone who has been following the series. According to ScreenRant, the show was the biggest digital show in the United States just over a week after it premiered. Just a few weeks later, ScreenRant had another exclusive stating that The Umbrella Academy had become the most watched streaming show in the U.S, beating out CW’s The Flash for the top spot. This is extremely impressive for a series that pretty much surprised everyone with its great humor and broken characters.
After 43 women who weren’t pregnant when the day began give birth to superpowered children, billionaire Reginald Hargreeves attempts to adopt as many of the children as possible. After “adopting” seven of them, Hargreeves sets out to create a team so they could eventually save the world. The Umbrella Academy picks up decades after this as the now adult children deal with the mystery surrounding their father’s death and an impending apocalypse.
We here at The Nerd Stash gave The Umbrella Academy 4 out of 5 stars, stating:
“The Umbrella Academy is a twisted love-child of the X-Men and the MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy. And I say this as a ringing endorsement. It knows when to take itself seriously and when to slow it down with hilarious comedic moments. Although it may not be a show for everyone and can be a bit predictable at times, I believe it’s at least worth checking out.”
