A California woman shared a viral video on social media, claiming that a dog sitter she hired through the company Rover left her dog alone while she was at Coachella. The video was posted to TikTok, where the original poster shared in great detail exactly what happened, prompting users to leave comments expressing their concerns. The situation also sparked conversations about what steps to take next, with Rover itself responding to the video.

The video in question features a woman who explains that she used the dog sitting company Rover to book a sitter for her dog, Georgie, while she was away working at the Coachella music festival. According to the video, the sitter ended up leaving the dog alone for one of the nights she was expected to stay, prompting the dog to howl and bark for the whole evening, among various other accusations, including not properly feeding Georgie and even kidnapping.

A Furbo camera linked to her home network captured the exact moment that the dog was left alone, which only furthers the narrative in her favor. However, when the sitter was approached about it, she allegedly denied that such things had happened, opting for Rover to step in.

Rover is an online marketplace where people can request and book pet care services, including grooming, walking, and sitting. The people featured on the website are not employees of Rover but rather free agents who use reviews and ratings to attract new customers.

Reactions to Rover Dog Sitter Leaving California Dog Alone

Commenters took to the replies to share their opinion on the situation, with one person writing, “Rover def needs to refund you, that’s wild.” Other replies share the sentiment, though one person shared their child’s experience with sitting for Rover, explaining, “Our teenager sits for Rover, literally he takes his gaming system and parks on their couch for 48 straight hours. His client list is so packed full because the bar is on the FLOOR for what a good rover sitter is.“

The company itself also commented on the video to try and make things right, saying, “We’re so sorry to hear that this was your experience, and we hope that Georgie is doing ok. Our team will be reaching out to you shortly to check on Georgie and to work towards making this right.”

The video has upwards of two million views now, and has only continued to gain traction as others, including sitters allegedly working for Rover, share additional information. According to a video updating the situation, one person wrote, “Im a Rover sitter and you should DEFINITELY blame rover. You’re paying for service and they don’t do any background check or anything on us.”

It has been revealed that Rover has given her a full refund and credit toward her next booking. It is unclear if anything specifically happened to the sitter in question.
