It’s time to consume locally

In Mexican families, Coke is part of a habit, tradition, and even a way of life. From a very young age, Mexicans have always had Coke on the table at any meal and even more so at celebrations. It is strange to see any other soda than Coke. But everything changed with the news that The Coca-Cola Company supported Trump’s anti-immigrant policies and even gave information to the authorities about their immigrant workers. This is what made many Coke consumers start organizing a boycott on social networks to stop consuming its products, and Mexicans support it.

In Mexico, people start consuming Coke in childhood, although it is not the best practice, and continue to do so throughout their lives. In some families, the example comes from many previous generations. There are many cases where, for medical reasons, people have to stop drinking Coke, but they are so fond of this soda that they don’t even stop drinking it. However, that changed drastically after the Mexican Coke boycott started:

Girl my Coca Cola loving father in law did not leave it when he was diagnosed with diabetes. But he left it for this!!!!

This led former Coke consumers to stop drinking soda or look for alternatives like Pepsi or Red Cola. So this Pepsi worker in the USA explains in her TikTok activethegreat, how it is now almost impossible to keep Pepsi on the shelves. People prefer to clear out all the Pepsi, but the shelves with Coke remain practically untouched. This happens even when there are all kinds of promotions like 3×2 or 20% off on Coke products. There are so many videos of people turning down Coke, I believe that even if they gave away the soda for free, many would not drink it because of principles. However, with Mexicans being one of the biggest consumers of Coke, this boycott brought a big problem for the company.

Girl once we collectively cancel something or somebody they are DONEEEE (look up Tiziano Ferro, Karla Panini, Angela Aguilar, and Yahritza y su escencia) 🤣🤣

Just as this user commented, when Mexicans feel very offended, they are too petty and will not give a second chance to anyone or anything.
