Sometimes, you shouldn’t let Grandpa (or Grandma) behind the wheel, for their own and others’ safety sake. Nonetheless, a 70-year-old truck driver in Utah still thought he had it in him to drive until he confused the gas pedal for the brake pedal. This grave error resulted in him crashing straight into a busy barbershop — while the hairstylist and a customer were still inside. Fortunately, no one was fatally hurt, but the shop owner did walk away with some injuries to the knee. The gamers of Reddit quickly took that reference and ran with it in the shop owner’s post about the startling incident.

“I used to be a barber like you. Then I took a truck to the knee,” joked a top comment, referring to a quote from the hit 2011 video game Skyrim. “Never Should’ve Come Here!” quipped a response. And, of course, plenty more came in with their own puns and jokes, such as “Barber? I hardly know her!” “That was a close shave,” said another. Witty remarks aside, some people were thankful and shocked that no one died from such a deadly-looking accident. “A passed-out old man ran into a barbershop in my town & killed someone 😞,” recalled a commenter.
That all being said, a family member of the barbershop owner has opened a fundraiser to help rebuild what was lost, as well as cover the medical bills for the barber’s poor knees. “He’s married with two little kids and this barbershop was their only source of income while his wife is in nursing school,” explains the owner’s brother. As wild as the situation was, the GoFundMe project isn’t asking for much compared to some you might have seen before, with $11K being the goal.
Miraculously, over 80% has been reached as of writing. It looks like the barber might be back in business soon, thanks to the generosity of the internet. And as for that grandpa — he better not drive anything, let alone a truck, for a spell.
