V Rising: How to Get Bat Leather & Bat Hide

Lack of parents isn’t required for this kind of bat obsession.

This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Regular leather won’t cut it anymore in V Rising‘s late-game phase. A fully-fledged vampire like yourself should drape in Bat Leather if you want to face Dracula with some dignity. It just so happens that the game doesn’t exactly tell you where to get Bat Leather or Bat Hide, and bats as enemies are new additions to the game’s full 1.0 release. If you want to retain that vampire drip, here’s where you can get Bat Hide and, consequently, Bat Leather in V Rising.

Where to Find Bats in V Rising

First things first, you need to kill bats for Bat Hide, which you can then turn into Bat Leather.

To find bats in V Rising, you can head to two mid-game to late-game or endgame areas. The first and more accessible one is in Dracula’s Demise due North of Dunley Farmlands and South of Gloomrot. It’s filled with Level 83 enemies.

The second and more lucrative is in the Ruins of Mortium. It’s the Easternmost region on the map. The area, for starters, is full of level 50+ enemies. So keep your gear level in check for both areas.

The bat enemies you need to look for are level 80+ Giant Bats (not level 50+). At the moment, level 83 Giant Bats in Ruins of Mortium only spawn during the red tier 2 (level 80+) Rift Incursion events.

You’ll have to kill clusters of enemies all over the event area. Among those enemies are Giant Bats, and these Level 80+ Giant Bats drop the Bat Hide.

However, unlocking Rift Incursions is quite the process and you need a specific building. I’ve prepared a step-by-step guide below to simplify it.

Unlocking Giant Bats (& Bat Hide/Bat Leather) through Rift Incursions

  1. Progress through the main quest until you see a quest that rewards you with the Eye of Mortium blueprint. Finish it to get the reward.
  2. Open the build menu, go to ‘Production’ then ‘Dominance’, and build the ‘Eye of Mortium‘ in your Castle. This building lets you track Rift Incursion events on the map.
  3. Afterward, you can now reliably kill Giant Bats to farm Bat Hide in red tier 2 (level 80+) Rift Incursions, just monitor the timer (in the map) for the event.
  4. Also, track Gorecrusher the Behemoth in the V Blood interface. Defeat the boss to unlock the Bat Leather recipe.

Refine the Bat Hide to Get Bat Leather in V Rising

Once you finally have your Bat Hide, simply build an Advanced Tannery (unlocked by defeating Terrorclaw the Ogre). It’s under the Production/Refinement tab. Then, refine the Bat Hide into Bat Leather.

  • Pristine Leather
  • Bat Hide

Afterward, you can finally craft your late-game armor in the Tailoring Bench.

V Rising is available on the PC and PlayStation platforms.
