This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Surprisingly, you still need fish in V Rising 1.0. It’s not for you and your more sophisticated vampire needs, of course. Fish or fishing in V Rising is for your human prisoners. They still have their icky human needs, and you need to fulfill them if you want to keep them alive while harvesting their blood. To keep a steady supply of sushi for your blood donors, here’s my V Rising fishing guide and consequently, how to get Fish Oil in V Rising.

Get the Fishing Pole First

[Updated May 22, 2024 – Revised the guide to focus on fishing and added further instructions for Fish Oil]

Sadly, you might not be able to fish until you reach Level 32 or so. This step-by-step instruction should help you with the process:

  1. Reach Gear Level 32.
  2. Fight and defeat Finn the Fisherman (track him in the V Blood interface).
  3. Defeating Finn unlocks the Fishing Pole recipe. Craft the Fishing Pole on your Woodworking Bench. It needs the following components:
    • Wood
    • Coarse Thread
  4. Equip the Fishing Pole in your hotbar.

Once you have the Fishing Pole, it’s time to fish. You can just head to any large body of water and start fishing there.

Certain fishes, however, are only available in certain spots. Different kinds of fish have different purposes as well. Some are for feeding, while others are for increasing your prisoners’ morale.

You can obtain Fish Oil or just Oil in general by depositing the fish in the following structures in your Castle:

  • Blood Press
  • Advanced Blood Press
  • Devourer (The Fish)

Different types of fish will yield additional materials apart from just Oil. The Fish, for example, will give out 20x Gold Jewelry and 200x Silver Coins if salvaged with a Devourer.

V Rising 1.0 is out now and available on the PC and PlayStation 5.
