This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Before you get to the darker goth apparel in V Rising, you’re going to have to wear normal clothing first, and normal clothing usually needs Cotton Yarn. As always, the game will leave you to your resources, and you’ll often find yourself wondering how to get Cotton Yarn in V Rising 1.0. Worry not because I’ve some instructions and tips for all your vampires out there.

Getting Cotton Yarn in V Rising 1.0 is a two-step process. So I’ll be dividing the instructions into two parts but note that you don’t need to perform them in a particular order.

Get Cotton

First, you’re going to need Cotton (who’d have thought?). Cotton comes in plant form in V Rising and Cotton Plants usually have a distinct appearance with white buds on them.

You can find plenty of Cotton Plants all over the Dunley Farmlands. You can even find Cotton Farms in the region.

An alternative is planting Cotton Seeds in Growing Plots and waiting for them to grow so you can harvest the Cotton. But this takes longer than just stealing Cotton from the humans.

Build a Loom

This process requires more steps. Here’s the step-by-step for building or obtaining a Loom.

  1. Be at least Gear Level 40. You need to fight a boss for this.
  2. Once you’re Level 40, track Beatrice the Tailor in the V Blood interface. She’s in Dawnbreak Village in Dunley Farmlands.
  3. Slay Beatrice the Tailor to unlock the Loom.
  4. Build the Loom structure in your Castle.
  5. Deposit the Cotton in the Loom to refine it into Cotton Yarn.

You might also find some ready-made Cotton Yarns lying around in Dawnbreak Village while hunting Beatrice the Tailor. Just grab some, the humans won’t mind (as long as you murder the witnesses).

Cotton Yarn is an investment for your vampire. This is a crafting component that reaches well into endgame as it’s one of the recipes for an endgame material called Ghost Yarn.

Mid-game, you also need it for armor and a cloak. All in all, these require Cotton Yarns, lots of them.

Ghost Yarn
Hollowfang Armor Set (four pieces of armor)
Hunter’s Cloak

They might not look that many, but bear in mind that you’ll need tons of Ghost Yarn for high-level gear, and you might need extra sets of Hollowfang Armor depending on your in-game build. So keep that Loom spinning and that cotton picking.

V Rising is out now in its 1.0 version and is available on PC and PlayStation 5.
