Valkyria Chronicles 4‘s story takes place in 1935, where a war between the fictional Atlantic Federation and East European Imperial Alliance is underway. Luckily for the Federation, they have eager commander Claude Wallace on hand to lead Squad E towards a swift end to the conflict. You control and guide Squad E through a long and brutal campaign.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 merges turn-based strategy with real-time third-person shooter gameplay. Its ‘Blitz’ system allows you to operate via an overhead command mode and third-person action mode’. To become victorious, you must utilize your unit classes – Grenadier, Snipers, Lancers, Engineers, Shocktroopers, and Scouts – alongside numerous battleship support options.
What also makes VC4 unique is its visual style. Its hand-drawn graphics utilize a powerful watercolor effect that gives it an eye-catching aesthetic. The game looks like an interactive painting, setting it apart from other games within its genre. The atmosphere they create is a perfect companion to Hitoshi Sakimoto’s sweeping orchestral score.
True to its name, Valkyria Chronicles 4: Complete Edition comes packed with all bonus content released for the game. This includes a whole host of additional missions and story content to quench your strategy RPG thirst.
