Riot Games typically introduces a new Valorant map every second episode or so. Lotus, for example, was released alongside Episode 6, which also reintroduced another old map at the same time, Split. So, what are we likely to see with Episode 7? Apart from the recent launch of the new Agent Deadlock, we’re also getting another map that is seemingly only around the corner. Let’s dive in and break down everything we know about Valorant’s new map and its release date. We’ve recently updated this article to reflect new information discovered throughout this past week.
All Valorant Sunset Info So Far
Concrete details on Valorant’s new map so far have yet to be revealed. There have only been a handful of teasers, and a few leaks along the way too. Of course, the biggest is the leaking of the map’s splash screen itself, which you can see above as the feature image for this article. The image appears to confirm our earlier speculation that Sunset (a name that was also leaked) is set in Los Angeles.
No more hiding. Cypher and Deadlock’s peek behind the KINGDOM curtain is just the beginning.

So, what’s the connection with LA, exactly? Eagle-eyed observers have noted that the map Cypher pulls up of the surrounding area looks like the highways in LA, almost to a tee. Not to mention, there’s another clue from the Episode Seven Act One Battle Pass. A Player Card called the Golden Hour Player Card perhaps alludes to the city as the location for the next Valorant map.
Sunset Map Design: How Many Sites & How it Plays
As for the map’s design, previously all we had to go on was previous details about Valorant map design shared by the publisher. For example:
We aimed to make a map with high flexibility and movement for both teams. There are several traditional Indian architectural elements and locations that we took inspiration from. Stepwells, Rock-Cut architecture, and the Dravidian style. Badami Cave Temples, Ellora Caves, and Rani Ki Vav, to name a few.
Now, though, we finally have our first glimpse of the map itself (seen above), as well as some leaked details:
- Sunset is an urban map, set in Los Angeles
- The map has a vibrant, bright aesthetic with saturated colors reflecting the “Sunset” theme
- It has only two Spike sites, as opposed to the three in its previous latest map, Lotus
- There are little to no gimmicks throughout the map, so don’t expect to see teleporters or crazy ziplines
From what we can see so far, Sunset looks like a fairly simple and intuitive design that takes elements from Ascent and Split. There’s the bright aesthetic and mid area from Ascent, combined with the sharp corners and urban theme of Split. Of course, we won’t really know how it plays until we get our hands on it.
