While Valve has released a statement against yearly console hardware refreshes, it still has something in store this year for Steam Deck users or potential ones. Valve announced that it will be releasing a rather special Limited Edition Steam Deck with a white shell and an OLED screen. How special though? Well, too special as Valve is putting their foot down on the ‘Limited Edition’ part. First come, first served.

Specifically called the Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White, it was unveiled in an announcement on Steam. It will have the same internal specs as the Steam Deck OLED 1TB model, but of course, with the more aesthetically contrasting white shell. It’s all the rage these days for PC gaming hardware.

It will be available on November 18th, 2024 at 3 PM PST. Meanwhile, the cost will be $679 USD.

Moreover, the Limited Edition White model will only be available in limited quantities– the number of which Valve didn’t exactly specify. With that said, there will be separate availabilities and stocks for the US, CA, UK, EU, AU, and Komodo regions. As we mentioned before, Valve is going to be strict with the production numbers.

“As this is a limited edition release, we will not be making more of this particular design. Once we are sold out, we will be sold out.”

So it’s bound to be one of those super-rare Steam Decks. It will likely fetch a huge secondary market price once the dust has settled. It wouldn’t be far-fetched to see existing normal Steam Deck owners purchasing another Limited Edition White just for their collection.

Scalpers are Not Welcome

Thankfully, Valve also has a scalper deterrent in place. They are restricting the number of Limited Edition White purchases to one unit per account. So unless you have dozens or hundreds of dummy and bot Steam accounts, there’s no hoarding this one.

Again, the Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White will be released on November 18, 2024, at 3 PM PST and will retail for $679. Let’s hope the impending bloodbath won’t stain the whiteness of that Limited Edition shell.
