Venom from Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 is about to jump from screen to page with Marvel’s Venomverse Reborn. This upcoming anthology series debuts with the game’s version of the symbiote officially entering comic book canon. While Insomniac’s version of the character is featured in the opening issue, each preceding issue will focus on a different version. As with the Spider-Verse, this new Venomverse finds alternate versions of the character from throughout the multiverse to highlight.

Within Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 the Venom symbiote is first introduced as a cure to Harry Osborne’s mysterious disease. As the game progresses, the symbiote quickly goes from a cure to a disease as it tries to take over the world. While Peter Parker and Miles Morales stop the alien symbiote and save the world, they don’t kill Venom. Instead, Insomniac sets it up for a return in future installments. However, it looks like this particular Venom’s future lies in the pages of Marvel comics instead.

The first issue of Venomverse Reborn features a video game Venom story from Christos Gage. It sees the symbiote facing off against the former King in Black, Knull. The debut issue also features a story from Benjamin Percy and Brian Level. Together, the duo brings a story about the murder of the Avengers by one of their own. Each issue of this new anthology will bring a different version of Venom from across the multiverse for a new adventure. Plus, each issue gets a new Venom story from Al Ewing and Danilo S. Beyruth.

Writer Al Ewing shared a little bit about what readers can expect from this anthology series. Ewing is handling the framing sequence for the series and gets an up-close look at what is coming from these stories. For them, while Marvel’s version of Venom is a joy to write, seeing the different versions of the character is amazing. They also shared that those that enjoy the more cosmic aspects of Venom’s adventures lately will be really happy with this upcoming series.

Venomverse Reborn #1 is on sale 06/19.
