While it’s often ideal to “let kids be kids,” sometimes, a valid crashout is understandable when the youngsters take things a little too far. For example, it’s one thing to annoy someone with the meme “6-7,” but vandalizing property with 6-7 as a prank is unacceptable. And one Virginia resident found this meme to be quite infuriating when they discovered 6- 7 scratched into the gym equipment they were using in their apartment.
“Kids in our apartment gym damaged the equipment, etching 6 7 into the plastic,” the tenant explained, posting a photo of the damage on Reddit. “It’s bad enough that no one monitors the kids, since the amenities are close to housing, but this… sucks,” they sighed. Clearly, there’s a lack of parental discipline with some of the children in the apartment.
“I’m really getting tired of this stupid trend,” groaned one commenter. And while a few people in the comment section of the post shared their justified loathing of the overused meme, the grand majority pointed out how none of this, the vandalism or the cringe meming, is actually new. “If it wasn’t this meme it’d be something else etched there,” said an individual. “Its literally deez nuts, 69, bofa, insert anything that was funny 5-10 years ago,” added another.
Beyond the trendy expressions over the past years, one person went further and pointed out the trends that even some adults got into alongside kids. Harlem shake, Gangnam style, “Hit a lick” trend, and Tide Pods were some, to name a few. “And those are just from the top of my head from my time, kids will always be dumb kids,” said the Redditor. Of course, they don’t mean children are inherently dumb or something, but if history is anything to go by, children will naturally do dumb things on occasion, like vandalizing equipment for 6-7.
In the end, what should be infuriating with OP’s post isn’t the trend itself; the meme will eventually be replaced with another, after all. It’s the vandalism and the lack of respect for others that the young culprits showed.
