The Nintendo 2DS system has seen a serious price cut. It’s down to $80 at your local Walmart, providing the perfect opportunity to pick one up for those who haven’t snagged one yet. And that’s not even the full deal. Walmart is making the tantalizing game bait even sweeter by including a free game along with the system. Consumers will get their choice of either Mario Kart 7 or Yo-Kai Watch, a fairly new game released on November 6. Don’t believe me? See for yourself.
As of February 2014, the Nintendo 2DS system sold 2.1 million copies, a measly sum compared to the regular 3DS’s 42.7 million units. The system was intended for a younger audience, as its counterpart’s hinges could be broken by children on accident. Plus, the 2DS does not play games in 3D. On the flipside, the console allegedly has a stronger battery life and is more durable than the 3DS.
Given the 3DS’s impressive library of games, which is still expanding, the 2DS makes a fantastic entry point into Nintendo’s portable console world. The inclusion of Yo-Kai Watch as an alternative to Mario Kart 7 strengthen’s the device’s possible appeal to younger gamers and also serves to make the 2DS, which was released in October of 2013, seem almost new again.
