A pregnant couple in South Carolina who visited a Walmart in North Myrtle Beach for a shopping trip is claiming that they had been robbed of their Fetch rewards by none other than an employee at the store. According to the woman who spoke about the incident in a TikTok video, she and her partner had just finished their purchases and were leaving the store when an employee at the exit asked to see their receipt.
After handing over the receipt, the employee reportedly took a photo of it on her phone before returning it. At the time, neither of them thought much of it and continued on their way.
It wasn’t until the couple returned to their car that they noticed something was wrong. The woman said she attempted to scan the receipt to earn points from her purchases, but the Fetch Rewards app flagged it as already submitted. Confused, she double-checked that she was scanning the correct one, but she still got the same response.
Since they had only just received the receipt, the couple suspected that the employee who had taken a photo of it at the exit might have submitted it herself to claim the reward points before they had a chance to do so.
Fetch Responds After TikTok Post Gains Attention
After the woman’s first post concerning the incident gained traction on TikTok, she later provided an update explaining that both Walmart headquarters and Fetch had reached out to her.
According to her, Fetch reviewed her account and confirmed that a duplicate scan had been attempted. Although the receipt would have only earned her twenty-five points, she claims that Fetch credited her account with the original twenty-five points, along with an additional one thousand points.
The woman also clarified that she had no intention of pursuing disciplinary action against the employee involved. Instead, she said she was satisfied with Fetch’s resolution and would allow the company to handle the matter as it saw fit.
What Netizens Are Saying About the South Carolina Walmart Incident
Regardless of the woman’s feelings on the matter, many netizens were still outraged that such theft was happening in the first place. One commenter admitted, “I would be flipping out. I dont play about my fetch rewards.” Another pointed out, “You paid the money for her to get the reward/gift card☹️.” A third wrote, “So the person who’s supposed to be making sure that we’re not stealing is stealing?! yeah… that tracks.”
Some responded with humor, with one person joking that the employee was “BANKINGGGGGG on them fetch points lol.” Others also speculated that this might not have been an isolated incident, with one viewer saying, “No wayyy. I bet she does that all day, everyday!”
