Warhammer 40K: Darktide is set to debut on September 13 of this year, though the developers aren’t shying away from showing it off with a new gameplay trailer at today’s Summer Game Fest. If you’d like to see just how bloody the game plans to get, take a look at the said trailer below.

Mowing Hordes Down With Sheer Strength and Firepower

The trailer from today helps bring to life not just the bloody action in store, but some of the abilities different classes will bring to the table. In case you haven’t been keeping a keen eye on the game’s development, Darktide strays slightly from Vermintide by letting you create a custom character, complete with their own class that brings something unique to the table. Most notably, a brute-style class alongside the brutal Psyker was shown. The brute-style class can barrel through enemies, taking aggression from their allies and buying their team time to mow hordes down. The Psyker though is a whole different style, seeking to use magic (through the power of the Chaos Realm) to tear their opponents limb from limb. With many vibes of Sienna from Vermintide, it’ll be exciting to see what sorts of builds can come of the class.

But of course, front and center are endless hordes of baddies being ripped to shreds. Whether it be from a standard knife, a larger warhammer (get it because…never mind), or an assault rifle of sorts, bits and pieces will go flying off your foes in a beautiful spray of blood. More so than Vermintide surprisingly, though the switch from humans being a minor enemy to being a major focus probably helps with that. The trailer ends off with a massive beast clearly as a mini-boss (think Rat Ogres and Minotaurs), with our heroes ready to face it willingly.

I may be gushing over the imminent release of the game, though I’d love to hear your thoughts. Are you excited about what Warhammer 40K: Darktide is bringing gameplay-wise, and what else did you love seeing at the Summer Game Fest? Let me know!
