Some veterans already know this, but every single class in Diablo 4 has a questline that unlocks a major mechanic for that class, and Warlock in Lord of Hatred isn’t an exception. Contrary to previous classes, however, Warlocks need to do a lot of fighting, exploring, and demon-slaying to control some of the most powerful demons in their arsenal. Yet, once they complete all of that, they’ll unlock the powerful Soul Shards mechanic. So, without further ado, here’s how to complete the Warlock class quest in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred.
How to Complete the Warlock Class Quest in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred

Like other classes in Diablo 4, the Warlock class quest will become available once you reach level 15. After that, you’ll see a priority quest in your log called “Warlock: Disciple of the Forbidden.” If you want to get started with it right away, just start tracking it and teleport to the location marked on your map, which is the base game’s areas, meaning you can do this without having to start the Lord of Hatred campaign.
After speaking with Hattar, you’ll have to visit different places around Sanctuary, which are in these locations:
- Brackish Pans
- Blistered Barrens
- Forsaken Ascent
The quest will guide you through every location, so don’t worry about missing the exact place you have to visit.
The real challenge comes from each place you’ll visit, as every single one will require you to bind a demon, but the process is a bit different in each.
- For Ae’grom, in the first location, you need to reach the end of a dungeon, sacrifice an NPC, and defeat the enemy before binding it.
- For Laalish, you need to enter a dungeon, slay all Sorcerer Husks, and then reach the end of the dungeon to bind the demon.
- For Abodian, you need to acquire the Heart of Malice, which is west of where Hattar is, open the portal to the dungeon, reach the end, interact with the altar, and then bind the demon.
There is one final demon you need to bind, which will also complete the quest, but we won’t spoil that here. All you need to do is keep following the markers until you reach the final spot.
Once you do all that, you’ll unlock the Soul Shards mechanics, which give you a new summon and passive abilities depending on the Shard you equip. Then, at level 30, you’ll unlock Fragments, which further modify your Soul Shards. So, make sure to experiment with each one, because every Shard is tailored toward a specific build and playstyle.
