Steph Curry is without a doubt the greatest shooter the NBA has seen so far. Curry is a basketball icon, one half of the splash brothers, an MVP, and a four-time NBA champion. It is safe to say that the “Chef” has been cooking for years. However, one of the most impressive feats in the sharpshooter’s career just happened recently. Steph Curry has hit 4,000 career three-pointers made. An achievement so impressive that “The King” himself, Clevelands own, LeBron James, even reached out.
ESPN reports that on Thursday night, the Golden State Warriors took on the Sacramento Kings. As the ball quickly crosses the half-court line, three Kings players along with Warriors player Moses Moody rush for the basketball. In the panic, Moody was able to kick the rock out to none other than Steph Curry. The ball was in the air after a pump fake and a quick side-step. The 28-foot three-point shot from the right wing came crashing down through the hoop barely moving the net on its way in. NBA history, 4,000 career three pointers made by one of the greatest shooters of all time. Golden State would win that “crazy” game, with a final score of 130-104.
LeBron James Gives NBA Champion and Warriors Sharpshooter Steph Curry His Flowers
While the history-making shot happened in the third quarter, NBA stars and fans already had their Tweets out by the time the game ended. LeBron James being one of those stars. James would send out a message to Curry via X (formerly Twitter) saying congratulations to an old rival. James and Curry met in the NBA finals as Cleveland vs. Golden State became instant classics. However, this moment was bigger than basketball, and with these two not meeting at the top every year, it seems like they have actually become great friends with a lot of mutual respect for one another.
Steph Curry has changed the way baseball is played, not just in the NBA but at every level. Three-pointers are more important now than ever. Teams in the league live and die by the three-ball constantly. It started with the Warriors, but who knows when it will ever end. Curry’s imprint on the game will never be forgotten, as his fantastic career draws near an end.
The NBA will not be the same after Steph Curry decided to hang up the jersey for good. However, what he has left behind will be engraved into basketball history forever. With 4,000 career threes and counting, what else does this sharpshooter have left to prove?
