There are many changes in Warzone 2 season 3 DMZ that make an overhaul in this mode. The latest features include a fresh field upgrade, new types of enemies, different contracts, and better ways to exfil from Al-Mazrah! DMZ mode gets much bigger and more interesting in season 3, and here we’ll dive into all the new details about it.
Warzone 2 Season 3 DMZ Changes
DMZ mode is about doing missions and getting exclusive rewards for your efforts. Many players even use this mode to kill bots and upgrade their weapons. However, to add replayability and more value to this mode, the developers have introduced the following features for season 3.
Operator Slots
Before season 3, players could choose an operator, weapons, and keys to bring to their DMZ match in one slot. But with the new update, this system changes to be totally based on the soldiers you choose for each session.
This is called the Active Duty Operator Slots system. Before each match, you can choose three operators to do the missions. The mission progress system is shared, and you can also give any contraband weapons you have in your inventory to any of your operators. However, items like Self-Revive, Keys, Backpack, Plate Carrier, Killstreaks, and Gas Mask will be exclusive for each slot.

In Warzone 2 season 3 DMZ, you’ll be able to choose any operator you want for each Active Duty slot. And you won’t lose any progress if you change the operator in a particular slot. If you choose Ghost for slot one and play a few matches with him, you can later select Valeria for the same slot with the exact weapons, keys, and exclusive items.
Take this change as a new way to decrease the risk of losing your items each time you start a match. An operator can do a risky mission of killing the enemy commanders while the other gathers keys to locked areas. Speaking of risks, two new backpacks are coming in Warzone 2 season 3 DMZ update that will change the looting system and lower the chances of losing items.
Secure And Scavenger Backpacks
You could find two kinds of backpacks in seasons 1 and 2 of Warzone 2; The medium Backpack and the large variant. Each of them provided more space to keep more items. However, if you die in DMZ, all your loot will be lost unless you get a Secure Backpack!
With Warzone 2 season 3 DMZ update, you can pick the Secure or Scavenger Backpacks. The Secure Backpack doesn’t give much space for keeping items, but anything you have in it will be saved to your operator’s slot inventory even if you die during the match. Also, when you have the Secure Backpack, your looted items won’t turn into XP at the end of the game; Thus, you can have them in your inventory.
On the other hand, the Scavenger Backpack gives you more slots to store a third weapon and many other items. This Backpack will be a good choice if you want to pick many keys to store in your inventory after extraction. Keep in mind that you can build these backpacks with the new Barter System in Warzone 2 season 3 DMZ.
Workbench & Barter System in Warzone 2 Season 3 DMZ
The Barter System is a complete game changer for Warzone 2 season 3 DMZ as it introduces a new reward and craft system for scavenging. With this new system, you can use the non-lethal items you find on the map to create Backpacks, Killstreaks, Self-Revive Kits, and more.
This system works with combinations of items by recipes at the Buy Stations. This way, you can find batteries and bandages to create something new rather than sell them. The recipes for building each item are different and will be all available for players to learn in Warzone 2 season 3 DMZ.

This system is for creating items only, so if you need to upgrade or change a weapon’s attachments, you’ll need to use Workbenches near each Buy Station. Here you can change and change and tune the Contraband and Loadout weapons attachments piece by piece.
Remember that for changing attachments in Workbenches, you must have enough cash and pay the price; Unless you just want to replace a gun’s scope with the other, if attachable.
A Key To All The Doors!
One of the things that Warzone 2 DMZ offers is the inclusion of secret areas. These specific locations require a key for unlocking, making the players want to loot more and go on a scavenging hunt to find the keys they’re looking for. However, if you get yourself a Skeleton Key, you can open any door of any location in all three DMZ maps!
The Skeleton Key is undoubtedly good news for those frustrated with finding different keys in DMZ, but you need to know that creating it is through the Barter System with a unique recipe. Also, keep in mind that you can’t access Building 21 with this key, as it’s only used for doors to restricted areas of each map.
Plate Carriers For Different Gameplays
There were three types of Plate Carriers in the previous seasons of Warzone 2 DMZ. You had the default one-plate vest, the two-plate and a full three-Plate Armor Vest. However, this system has greatly changed in Warzone 2 season 3 DMZ update to have four different Plate Carriers with built-in perks.
The Tempered Plate Carrier is the same as the one in Warzone 1. This allows the player to fill only two plates but reach the full armor health bar. This helps you load less armor each time you get damaged and still have the full power.
The Medic Vest is another Plate Carrier that will help you to revive teammates faster. It has three full plate slots and enables you to use a Self-Revive much more quicker.
The Comms Plate Carrier is the other armor vest changing the DMZ gameplay regarding tracking the enemies! With this equipped vest, you can still fill in 3 plates, but the main perk is you’ll get a longer, advanced UAV when using the UAV Killstreak or hacking UAV Towers. You’ll also receive auditory cues for the location of nearby enemies.
The Stealth Plate Carrier is the last one on the list that comes with Warzone 2 season 3 DMZ update. With this armor vest equipped, you’ll get a ghost perk activated, Meaning that enemies will not find you as a red dot on their radar or with the UAV technology.
New Faction and Contract In Warzone 2 Season 3 DMZ
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 DMZ mode is all about doing contracts and missions. You chose these missions from four different factions in seasons 1 and 2, but now a new faction is on the list!
The new classified faction for Warzone 2 season 3 DMZ has 5 Tiers with various tasks. But only 3 Tiers will be available with the launch of season 3, and the rest will be part of the mid-season update. This is while your progress of doing the previous missions for Legion, White Lotus, Black Mous, and Crown factions won’t be lost.
Aside from faction missions, there are various side contracts that you can pick and complete on the map as well. These contracts help you find more keys and loot, and it seems like with Warzone 2 season 3 update, the Supply Run contracts are coming to the DMZ after the Battle Royale mode. In these contracts, you need to go to designated locations and loot; A perfect way to get extra loot at the start!
Rebreather Field Upgrade and New Ways to Exfil
Swimming wasn’t a thing back in Warzone 1, but with the launch of the Call of Duty: Warzone 2, you can dive into the water and even take the fight there! However, your operator doesn’t have iron lungs for extra oxygen space, so you need a Rebreather to stay underwater longer. The Rebreather is added as a Field Upgrade and can be found as ground loot on the DMZ maps.
But if you’re not a fan of swimming or underwater operations, a new Heavy-Chopper might help. These choppers have more speed and better resistance to damage, and you can find them on the Al-Mazrah map. However, the cool part about this new aerial vehicle is that you can exit the map and privately exfil with it! You can also buy private exfils from the Buy Stations, but to use the Heavy Chopper, you need to find its special fuel at the Al-Mazrah Airport.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Warzone 2 Season 3 will start on April 12.
