Washington D.C. Woman Bravely Confronts ICE as Man Is Taken Off Street Without a Warrant: ‘Don’t You Hate Yourselves?’

No rights, no rules.

On Thursday afternoon in Washington, D.C., a disturbing scene unfolded on 14th Street: a Latino man was seized by masked law enforcement agents and forced into an unmarked vehicle, while bystanders demanded answers. The incident, recorded and uploaded to Instagram by @washingtonianprobs before being circulated on Reddit, has drawn widespread outrage and revived fears over the legality of the Trump administration’s recent immigration crackdown.

The video shows plainclothes agents (faces concealed, wearing tactical gear) dragging the man into a vehicle. At no point are warrants presented, nor are the man’s rights read aloud. The woman recording the incident can be heard shouting at the agents:

“Don’t you fucking hate yourselves for what you’re doing, and what you’ve done to this country?”

She apologizes to the man being detained, telling the agents she hopes they one day feel ashamed for their actions.

The operation comes amid an intensifying effort by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), recently greenlit by President Trump, to ramp up street-level detentions. Civil rights advocates warn that the absence of identification or transparency in these arrests blurs the line between federal enforcement and extrajudicial abduction.

Onlookers were quick to note the disturbing parallels to authoritarian policing tactics. “Unless IDs are shown, these are kidnappers and human traffickers,” wrote one Reddit commenter. Another questioned the long-term consequences:

“My question is, how long can this go on before the public doesn’t just start disappearing them back?”

The Reddit thread discussing the video quickly devolved into a heated debate about civil resistance and community defense. Some suggested reviving neighborhood watch programs to protect communities, while others pointed out the inherent danger in confronting armed agents. One commenter observed grimly, “These people could be anybody. We need to be treating this like an armed gang kidnapping people off the streets.”

The event has also reignited criticism of ICE’s decision in recent years to allow agents to obscure their identities. As one user put it:

“If you’re proud of what you’re doing, then why are you wearing a mask?”

This single video represents what immigrant advocacy groups describe as hundreds of similar detentions occurring nationwide every day. Families are often left in the dark about where loved ones are taken or whether they will ever return. One Redditor recounted knowing multiple tourists detained under similar circumstances, warning: “I really can’t recommend visiting the U.S. until after this mess is over.”

For now, the man taken on 14th Street remains unnamed, and what actually occured to him post arrest unclear. But the footage has crystallized a growing unease that citizens and visitors alike can be “disappeared” without a word, a warrant, or a trace.
