With the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel after his comments on Charlie Kirk’s death, it feels like free speech is being truncated by the Trump administration. President Trump even reached out to ABC and Disney to try to order the television host removed from his job. Now, he’s taking things a step further. According to a Washington, DC reporter, he’s threatening to shut down all U.S. media. That is, of course, if they’re being too critical of him.
TikTok news reporter The Aravosis Report shared a concerning video of Trump’s plans to limit free speech in the media. President Trump stated, “I read someplace that the networks were 97% against me.” He then went on to threaten, “They’re getting a license. I would think maybe their license should be taken away.” Even scarier, he said that networks should have to reapply to have their license renewed every few months or years.
Aravosis shared there’s a specific reason why there could be a license denial for a network: They aren’t sharing enough conservative viewpoints. Provided a network isn’t acting in his best interests and pandering to him like Fox News, they could be facing a license revocation in the future. This means the news we could be seeing in the future would be far more right-leaning.
Aravosis asks his audience, “Folks, what kind of country is this anymore? This isn’t America.” He shares this is what you see during some of the worst times in our history. In fact, the Holocaust is a perfect example—a weaponization of the media that led to so much Jewish hate. “As a German: it feels weird to watch in real time what i was taught in school about the n regime,” said one commenter.
One commenter asked in response to the video, “Can we collectively acknowledge what a sniveling crybaby Trump is? What a snowflake he is? He can’t take humor at his expense from comedians? And maga thinks he is the masculine daddy. Wait til it dawns on Trump that he’s an international laughingstock.”
“I think this might show that they know their power is actually slipping. they know their days are numbered so they’re moving as fast as they can. and they’re going to overplay their hand,” said one hopeful commenter. However it pans out, you’re seeing an attack on free speech in real time.
