A woman in Washington DC is going viral online after she posted a TikTok video discussing what she believes defines a “real woman.” The short clip racked up thousands of views before it was suddenly deleted nearly 48 hours after it was first shared.
In the video, the TikToker said, “To all my fellow women out there let me help you out. You’re not a real woman. You’re a cisgender woman.” She went on to argue that defining women solely by their ability to menstruate or have children reduces them to their biological functions.
She added that people who believe those traits are what make someone a “real woman” are “no better than a man,” claiming that such views place value on women only when they have a “healthy uterus.”
The video’s message appeared to resonate with many viewers on TikTok, where it received over twenty thousand likes and largely positive reactions before it was eventually taken down. However, the clip also made its way to X, and many users on the app were not pleased, to say the least.
What Netizens on X Had to Say
The video was reposted by @ImMeme0 and it drew a wave of criticism from those who found it offensive that she was calling women “cisgender.” One person wrote, “It’s dehumanizing and disgusting.” Someone else said, “She sounds very confused… A woman is an adult human female.” Another commenter reacted more harshly, saying, “I think I became a little retarded listening to that. I hope it’s temporary.”
“I am a Woman, not a ‘Cisgender’ woman whatever the [expletive] that is… Will always be a woman no matter how much you want to try and change it,” one comment read, while another added, “No such thing as ‘cis’. It’s a manufactured term in the vocabulary of mentally ill people.”
Still, not all responses were critical. One netizen defended the woman’s point, writing, “No she believes women is NOT defined by her Menstrual Cycle, and her Uterus. She is saying, CISGENDER women believe that what a women [sic] is, is a uterus and a menstrual cycle.”
As of the time of writing, there has been no update on why the original TikTok video was deleted.
