It’s the week of Independence Day, with many Americans celebrating the 4th of July in various ways, such as shooting fireworks and or holding BBQ cookouts. However, one man in Graham, Washington, chose to do something a little different from the norm: sit on the side of the road for over 8 hours with a sign condemning Trump supporters. More specifically, the sign reads, “If you like Trump, U R a Nazi,” which is an extreme statement to make but not too far from the truth with some of those who idolize the current POTUS. Whatever the case, Reddit loves him.
“He’s doing what he loves. I admire that,” remarks a user, with hundreds of others upvoting in agreement. “I support this guy, get him a lemonade, and he looks dehydrated,” says another. Some even asked where the man was located so they could see whether others could join him. “He needs company,” states a Redditor. “Grap some breed and wine, join this guy, he needs to know he isn’t alone,” seconds another. Despite all the madness trickling from DC to the rest of the country, it’s still a relief to know that free speech is something we can enjoy. And this Pierce County resident is peacefully exercising said right; rioters elsewhere could learn a thing or two from him.
Many more Redditors chimed in, not just in support of the man’s calm protest but of what he stands for. “Doing the lord’s work,” says one person. “And he’s right :0,” agrees another. “Power to him; he’s totally right,” remarks a third. A Reddit user brings up a good point about how hopeless the current situation can feel with the corruption taking place in DC: “Sometimes it does feel like there isn’t anything we can do, and that sucks. This is what doing something looks like. Good for him.“
Of course, they are people who love Trump and would despise people like this. But it’s likely we can all agree with one commenter. To sit outside all day to make a point around a patriotic holiday — “I respect the grind.”
