A nail salon customer went viral after sharing videos of a confrontation she said happened at a salon in Federal Way. The Washington woman claimed a nail tech spoke about her in Vietnamese, acted condescendingly when she tried to explain herself, and later refused to speak with her. The incident has since sparked discussion about customer service and the way the interaction was handled.

The incident was shared on TikTok by user @barbiely_official, who identified the business as Infinity Nail Bar in Washington and the nail tech as Natalie. Her videos attracted thousands of views and comments, with many viewers taking the customer’s side. The creator also said that several followers contacted her after seeing the videos to share their own negative experiences with the salon.

According to the TikToker, the incident started when she asked to see a color palette because she did not have cell service inside the salon. She said she had already asked someone at the front desk for the Wi-Fi so she could load a reference photo from Google.

The customer claimed the nail tech then commented about her not knowing her own color choice. She said the comment was made in Vietnamese and argued that translating it into English made it sound less insulting than it did in the original language. She said she tried to explain why she needed the color palette, but the technician allegedly cut her off and told her, “I don’t want to talk to you.” The customer then asked to speak with a manager.

The TikToker also clarified that the technician she was confronting was not actually doing her nails. She said the woman was sitting next to her nail tech when the alleged comments were made. In a second video, she argued that she should not have to pay the full price because the interaction had ruined her experience, comparing it to asking for a discount at a restaurant after poor service.

Washington Viewers React to Salon Confrontation

The comments were largely supportive of the customer, with many viewers criticizing the technician’s behavior and praising the TikToker for staying calm. One viewer questioned why the technician was involved in the confrontation when she was not even doing the customer’s nails, while another said, “If she doesn’t want to talk to you, then she shouldn’t talk about you.” The creator agreed with the latter comment.

Other viewers focused on the alleged Vietnamese comments, with several saying they understood why the TikToker considered them more insulting in their original language. Some also praised her for recognizing what was being said and confronting the technician about it.

The controversy also prompted commenters to share their own alleged experiences with nail salons. One user claimed they had been insulted in Vietnamese at another salon in Olympia, while others encouraged the creator to leave reviews or report the salon to state regulators. A few commenters also made unverified claims about the Washington nail techs being unlicensed.

One commenter summed up the frustration by writing, “Nail salons are too expensive for them to be talking crap about us. It’s a luxury service, so they need some etiquette training.”

The creator also claimed in the comments that Infinity Nail Bar had removed negative Google reviews, although that claim has not been independently verified. For now, the TikTok comments appear to have become almost as busy as the nail salon itself.
