Fast food complaints are nothing new these days, but one woman from Federal Way city in Washington state has taken her complaint to a whole new level. The woman appears to have skipped the McDonald’s complaint process and went straight to calling ICE, all because she had trouble getting her food. Apparently, the McDonald’s workers don’t speak English and appear to have difficulty understanding the language, leading to a call for an ICE sweep.
TikTok user maewest_eush, aka Mae_West Darlings or simply Mae, is the Washington woman in question, and she posted a rather impassioned rant on October 27 about her recent frustration at a McDonald’s branch in her area. “All these little fast food joints, they brought these people here on their work visas, and they don’t understand a lick of [expletive] English. And all them jobs like McDonald’s and all that, that’s where our youth used to work at,” explains Mae.
Long story short, Mae had trouble ordering food because the screen was broken, and the McDonald’s crew also seemed to have trouble understanding her, allegedly. So she threatened them, saying she would call ICE. Mae not only called ICE (allegedly) but also asked them on her video to come to Washington state to detain “Latinos, Africans, and these Indians from India,” further assuming that half of them are “illegals.”
“It’s time to clean up house… So please, get this to Trump… All of them got to go, round them all up,” pleads Mae. In addition to having trouble getting fast food, Mae apparently wanted the fast food jobs to go to “American citizens” instead of those she assumed as undocumented immigrants who can’t speak or understand English. Her rant has since gone viral on X/Twitter.
People online are split
On one hand, some of the more level-headed commenters have voiced out their doubts regarding Mae’s story since McDonald’s tends to hire legal and authorized workers. Mae didn’t exactly present evidence that the fast food chain was cutting costs by hiring cheaper and possibly illegal labor, “People who work there are legal and authorized to work there, and get paid the same,” explains a commenter.
Hispanic people in her TikTok comment section have also called Mae out, “This comment section is sick. It’s unbelievable how evil some ppl are,” says a TikTok commenter. Some have also explained to Mae that the US didn’t exactly have an official language until March 1, 2025, and many schools teach Spanish as a second language.
However, for other people who might be worried about having difficulty ordering fast food or their youth not having a job at a fast food restaurant, Mae’s words have become a rallying cry and an invitation to call ICE. ICE, for the record, has intensified its activities in Portland, Oregon, which is the adjacent state of Washington, and they’ve had no shortage of documented rights violations and dehumanizing methods.
