Ubisoft showcased some of its biggest upcoming games during the Ubisoft Forward digital showcase today, including the highly anticipated Watch Dogs: Legion. Ubisoft began with a short film from Emmy award-winner Alberto Mielgo (Love, Death & Robots). Afterward, Ubisoft revealed a nearly 8-minute long trailer with new gameplay and story elements. It also gave fans the new release date of October 29th, 2020. You can check out the trailer below:
The new trailer and its accompanying short film reinforce the main concept of Watch Dogs: Legion that was seen at last year’s E3. The game takes place in a near-future, dystopian London. Players will be able to recruit any citizen they find to their team to reclaim their home.
While the new trailer showed again the old lady who stole the show at E3, it showed plenty of new characters as well. Each citizen will have their strengths and weaknesses. Many of them will be based on their profession. For example, Arthur the construction worker will use a nail gun and giant wrench as weapons. There’s also Amy, a drone expert who uses all manner of tech to accomplish missions from a distance. In Watch Dogs: Legion, players can use whatever recruit they want to tackle objectives. Some may be better suited than others though you can use whichever you like to fit your gameplay style.
Ubisoft’s overview also gave more story details for Watch Dogs: Legion. The villainous organization Albion, led by Nigel Cass, will be the game’s antagonistic force. Players will be able to recruit Albion agents to their team, though it may be difficult. Nigel Cass and his team won’t be the only ones terrorizing London. Mary Kelley, another villain, runs an organ farming operation.
Watch Dogs: Legion launches on October 29th for PC, Google Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5. Microsoft’s Phil Spencer appeared later in the showcase to confirm it will support Smart Delivery for Xbox platforms.
