A Wayne County official and her husband got caught on camera after pulling a gun on a customer over a 10-cent tax. While the story transpired at the beginning of 2025, it has resurfaced on other news outlets and Reddit. It would seem that months after the events transpired, Alicia Bradford, who was working as the director of Wayne County’s Parks division, just resigned. Previously, Alicia received a suspension without pay from her job, but it seems that she has now stepped down from her former position.
Initially, WXYZ Detroit reported that Alicia Bradford and her husband assaulted a man inside a BP gas station. This occurred because Bradford’s husband was angry at a 10-cent tax on a Mt. Dew can. A customer entered the scene, and things escalated quickly, leading to a fight between the husband and the endangered customer. Larry, Alicia’s husband, was using the can with the aforementioned 10-cent tax to hit the man during the fight.
The husband exited the store for a brief moment, only to return with a handgun that he used to point at the customer. Not long after, Alicia Bradford also entered the store with a gun of her own and threatened the person.
In the footage, you can see the husband screaming, “I should kill you,” after he forced the customer to get on his knees. Bradford also threatened the man. She said, “I could do something to you,” before she stopped and, ultimately, called the police. However, this backfired on Bradford and her husband. When the police officers arrived, they arrested both Alicia and Larry for assaulting the customer.
Naturally, many had their own opinion after seeing this Wayne County official pulling out a gun on a citizen. Some even talked about how this official risked her job for a 10-cent tax.
