This weekend’s box office numbers are in, and the report has a few notable shake-ups. First, M. Night Shyamalan’s latest film, Knock At The Cabin, fell four spots from number 1. Knock At The Cabin opened with over $12 million, but the film only brought in another $5.5 million at the domestic box office. This marks a 61% drop in its audience from last week. Replacing Shyamalan’s Knock at the Cabin is the latest Magic Mike movie, Magic Mike’s Last Dance.
While Magic Mike is number 1 at this weekend’s box office, it only opened with $8.2 million. This would be impressive for a movie with a smaller budget, but the new Magic Mike movie reportedly had a production cost of around $40 million. Fans should note that Magic Mike’s Last Dance has pretty good reviews from critics and fans alike. It should also be noted that this is Super Bowl weekend, which is typically a slow time for movie theatres as everyone prepares to watch the halftime show.
The new Magic Mike movie features actors such as Channing Tatum, Selma Hayek, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, and more. Steven Soderbergh directed the film.
Weekend Box Office Numbers Show James Cameron Has 2 Films in the Top 5
The new Magic Mike movie may have opened with lower-than-expected numbers, but James Cameron seems to have all the luck in Hollywood. The storied filmmaker has two movies in the top 5 at this weekend’s box office. His latest, Avatar: The Way of Water, rose one spot from last week to second place. The latest Avatar film made another $6.8 million at the domestic box office. What’s more special is that the 25th-anniversary re-release of Titanic, which Cameron also directed, came in at number 3. Titanic brought in $6.4 million at this weekend’s box office. It’s also one of the most successful films of all time.
Also in the top 5 for this weekend is 80 for Brady, which opened alongside Knock At The Cabin. Did you go to the movies this weekend?
