A disturbing incident unfolded recently when a Black family was waiting in the drive-thru queue at their local Starbucks in Lake Elsinore, California, and a White man harassed them with hateful comments, resulting in one of the children crying. The incident was caught on camera by the grandmother of the family, and it has since gone viral.
As reported by Atlantic Black Star, the beginning of the footage is accompanied by the caption, “White Man Harasses Black Children at Drive-Thru, Then Calls 911 Claiming He’s the Victim” and we see a glimpse into what occurred during the shocking incident. Disturbingly, the White male is yelling at the children in the vehicle in front of him, “She doesn’t even love you, guys! She wishes you weren’t around anymore! You were both accidents! You ruined her life! Mommy cheats on Daddy!”
In the background, you can hear one of the kids repeatedly shouting, “Shut up!” at the man’s hateful words. As one of the kids pipes up, the grandma attempts to calm the children down, stating, “Shut — be quiet. Now. Ignore him, he’s nobody. Don’t worry about it. You don’t need to cry over that. Nothing he is saying is true. He’s weird.” Sadly, you can then hear one of the children begin to cry loudly.
The next part of the footage sees the grandmother exit her vehicle and confront the driver who was spewing hate. Sat in a bright, light blue SUV, the “weird” man holds up his hand in a bid to protect his identity from the camera. It sounds like he’s on the phone to the police, which is a peculiar twist, considering what he’s just been caught doing. “This is him, everybody. This is him everybody.” expresses the grandma.
It seems that the man is trying to play the victim card to the police, even though he was the one who was harassing the Black family in the vehicle in front of him for seemingly no reason. you can hear him say “Now she’s outside of my window harassing me. Now she’s getting my licence plate” to the police on the phone. The man then drives forward to block the woman from getting back to her car, and goes over a large curb, almost crashing into the side of the building. “I need to get to my kids, are you gonna hit me with your car?” pleads the grandmother.
The “weird” man then uses a large map to cover his face in another attempt to hide his identity. “She’s Black and her kids her hanging out of the car.” and then goes onto claim, “She’s holding me hostage.” The woman challenges this claim, saying, “Nobody’s holding you hostage.” before adding, “I’m scared he’s gonna hit me.”
Interestingly, the identity of the man has since been confirmed as Mikhail Hunzeker, the co-owner of SoCal Games and Comics and an employee at Lake Elsinore Unified School District. While it’s not officially confirmed whether he has lost his job over the incident, commenters claim that he has. One person on Instagram wrote, “He no longer works at the school district. Multiple calls there today he no longer works there” while another added, “FANTASTIC 🔥”
Other reactions came in criticising the rude behavior of the man. Another commenter penned, “Verbally assaulting children, should have called the police and let the staff know in that drive thru that your not moving till the police her their just to block him in.” while another weighed in with, “This is a perfect example of Southern California caucasian behavior, so Lake Elsinore is a rich area in San Diego, CA county, where I’m a native and he’s covering his face because that is what THEY do out there to hide there racism.💯” A fifth commenter declared, “Who in their right mind would talk to little kids like that ?😡😡😡😡😡”
Honestly, I just can’t believe a grown man would speak to children like that — especially someone who reportedly works with youngsters in the local School District. With hope, justice is served and he definitely loses his job, as this sort of behavior is simply beyond the pale.
