There are a lot of competitions around the country, but one of the oldest and most annoying is the championship to see which state has the worst drivers. The one to make it up to that leaderboard today is none other than the state of Oregon. Recently, a truck operator in Oregon decided to record a driver on a highway who apparently didn’t know how to use the left lane, blocking all traffic behind them and just annoying all other drivers who were unfortunate enough to be on the road that day.
The clip begins with the truck operator filming an empty highway in front of him and saying, “I want to show everybody the classic Oregon driver.” He then explains that there’s no one in front of them, yet this particular driver, instead of driving a bit faster or letting others pass, decided to match the truck’s speed in the left lane.
At first glance, this might not seem like a big deal. However, many factors make the situation frustrating, not only for the truck driver but also for the other drivers in the left lane.
For starters, we all know that the left lane should be used to pass other vehicles. However, this driver was using it as if it were the middle lane, or even the right lane, driving slowly. Also, if you look in the truck’s mirror, you can see other cars in the left lane, meaning this person’s presence will eventually halt the progress of other drivers.
The truck operator continued to film the other vehicle, saying, “This is a classic Oregon driver behaviour,” before ending the video with a sigh and a “Welcome to Oregon” statement, meaning this is common in the state, and, according to some comments on the post, it checks out.
“Why is that person driving next to you like that? For your shade? That’s going to anger anybody behind him, too, when they notice he’s matching your speed.” – NotFailureThatsLife via Reddit.
“You can see the line of cars stuck behind him. Awful driver.” – MarcoVinicius via Reddit.
A few other Redditors believed this person was going at the speed limit, which, if so, is totally fine. However, we need to remember that most of the time we should leave the left lane for those who want to overtake. Fortunately, it seems the situation didn’t escalate, and no accidents occurred. Still, it is quite frustrating to see individuals like this behind the wheel.
