Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker posted a video on X criticizing President Donald Trump, stating that Trump believes Americans should simply “love” inflation, does not care about their financial situation, and wants to drive up housing prices. Pritzker added that Illinois residents are “not taking our advice from Donald Trump.” The post drew strong reactions online, with many users responding by highlighting Illinois’ tax increases and state spending under Pritzker’s administration.

In the video, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker speaks directly to the camera. He states, “One year after Trump’s budget bill, millions of Americans,” and continues, “And months after Donald Trump began his war of choice, President Trump is building his own crypto empire to enrich himself.” He adds, “He says he doesn’t care about Americans’ financial situation” and declares, “We’re not going to take our advice from Donald Trump in Illinois.”

The clip further discusses everyday costs and supporting good-paying jobs, noting that “Families need practical solutions that help them thrive, not just promises,” and references the FRESH program to help families struggling with food costs along with measures addressing higher prices at the pump, ending with “We will stand up and we will fight.”

The accompanying post text adds that Donald Trump thinks people should simply “love” inflation and wants to drive housing prices up. It is not clear from the footage whether the remarks form part of a larger speech or event. No independent verification of the specific claims appears in the post.

Illinois Voices Push Back on the Governor’s Critique

Many commenters focused on Illinois state policies under Pritzker. One wrote, “This coming from the guy who won’t stop signing bills increasing the costs of Illinoisans with higher taxes and fees, lol.” Another stated, “Just signed the highest IL state budget ever with zero spending cuts, $980,000,000 in new taxes or tax increases.”

Other users highlighted past inflation levels and accused the governor of inconsistency. A commenter noted, “It does suck that Joe Biden/Obama created the inflation that now will never go away. Unfortunately, Americans get to live with what Democrats created!”

Another said, “You had no problem blowing Biden when inflation was 9%. You *expletive* hypocrite.”

Several replies mirrored the structure and language of the original post. One user wrote, “JB Pritzker thinks we should all stop worrying about his illegals and simply “accept it.” JB Pritzker doesn’t care about the IL taxpayer…” Another added, “We’re not taking advice from the slob governor of IL.”

Additional comments pointed to specific costs, with one stating, “No one in the world has done more to raise the cost of life in Illinois than @JBPritzker. 59 New taxes and fees.”

The clip has become part of the ongoing national debate over economic policy and leadership priorities. Online discussion continues, with users on both sides focusing on the contrast between federal and state approaches to inflation and costs.
