This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

What happened to the Divine Beasts in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? These structures were one of the focal points of Breath of the Wild but seem to be missing now. If you go to their usual spots in Hyrule, they just simply are not there. The Sheikah technology has been replaced with Zonai inventions. With this in mind, what happened? Is there any explanation for where the Divine Beasts went?

Are the Divine Beasts in Tears of the Kingdom?

As of writing this, we have not found where the Divine Beasts have gone in Tears of the Kingdom. There also doesn’t seem to be any explanation in the game. We have not seen any NPC explain where they went, and we haven’t found a written passage explaining it.

It is important to note that the above information is what we have just a few days after the game launched. Tears of the Kingdom has a massive map, with the potential for secrets to be hidden in any crevice. We can take some guesses, though, as to what happened to the Divine Beasts.

In Breath of the Wild, it is explained that the Divine Beasts were excavated from long-lost Sheikah dig sites. While we doubt that the various races of Hyrule decided to bury them again, they could have somehow ended up in the Depths. With the way the Calamity took over these structures, the Gloom could have had a similar effect. Additionally, some of Hyrule’s greatest champions were killed in these structures. They may have been disassembled out of respect for their memories.

It is odd for a series like The Legend of Zelda not to explain the whereabouts of the Divine Beasts. They were significant enough in the previous game that their absence is very suspicious. Hopefully, we can find out what happened to them sooner rather than later.
