The Haunting is a yearly Call of Duty MW2 event that sets the stage for exciting gameplay. The Haunting introduces Halloween-themed new operators and game modes. The thrill doesn’t end there. Expect to navigate further, ghostly-themed maps. Activision released a trailer on October 17, 2023, showing what players can expect from the event. The event will start on October 17, 2023, and will likely run until the MW3 launch.
MW2 Haunting Event Content
MW2 Haunting event brings a lot of new content, including The Haunting Captured Souls event, new skins, and new maps.
The Soul Capture Event
The Soul capture is a special limited-time event, and players can capture souls by eliminating enemies. The souls are rewarded instantly; you can also trade them for many rewards once you have completed each match. This event is available across Modern Warfare II, Call of Duty: Warzone, and all game modes during the Haunting event in MW2. You can get a lot of event rewards as well as daily login rewards. It is more similar to the previous Trophy hunt event players experienced.
Zombie Royale
This is a limited-time mod, and you can turn into a zombie once dead and come back from the dead by tearing apart other undead players and collecting special syringes. According to Activision, they have revamped the mode with past zombie royale experiences. Al Mazrah and Vondel ( now renamed as Vondead) have a lot of redesigns according to the zombie themes during the Haunting event in MW2.
Maps
Two maps, El Asilo and Embassy, have been reskinned for Zombie themes.
- El Asilo: The map reskinned with the celebrations of Día de Muertos. The landscape is decorated with neon skulls alongside marigolds, candles, and altars to honor lost loved ones.
- Embassy: Players can conduct evening operations during the Haunting event in MW2 in a broken-down Embassy with zombie attacks.
New Operator Skins
Lilith, The Queen of the Succubi and fallen archangel Inarius, debuts from Diablo 4, while Skeletor from Overlord of Evil, Ash Williams from Evil Dead 2, and Alucard from Hellsing will also be available in the middle of the event. Skeletor skin will be available from October 17, Ash skin will drop on October 23, and finally, Inarius will be available on October 26 during the Haunting event in MW2. Also, there will be new operators, most of them Halloween-themed.
- Al Simmons: Players who purchase the Season 06 Battle Pass will immediately unlock the Al Simmons Operator.
- Spawn: You will get Spawn by completing all 20 Sectors of the Battle Pass system and reaching Tier 100. You will receive a more tactical variety of Spawn when you progress through the Battle pass.

Many other Halloween theme content has been added along with the MW2 Haunting event, giving players plenty of options to customize their gameplay experience. Season 6 will be a bit shorter season before MW3 launches in November. However, with the season 06 battle pass, players can still unlock new content and enjoy the Halloween-themed event. Additionally, with the introduction of new operators and skins from popular franchises, players have more variety in their choices for their loadouts.
