If you thought Dareel was the only NPC who needed some help with capturing endemic life, wait until you get Samin’s Research Report quest in Monster Hunter Wilds, which will task you to get a Dapperwing. Fortunately, this side mission isn’t as complicated as the first one, as finding this species is quite easy and doesn’t even require you to travel far away. As long as you have your trusty net and have unlocked the Scarlet Forest, you’ll be able to capture this critter fast.
Where To Find a Dapperwing

Contrary to the Tracktail Lizard, finding a Dapperwing in Monster Hunter Wilds is quite easy. For starters, you need to head to the Scarlet Forest. Here is the zone that houses these critters. Second of all, you need to bring your Capture Net, but that’s always on your inventory, so don’t worry about that. Once you have those two things, it’s time to begin the hunt.
- Travel to the Scarlet Forest’s base camp. It is located in Sector 1.
- Exit the base camp and move toward Sector 3, which is east of the camp.
- Once there, move slowly and look upward. Most Daperwing will be perched on tree branches or flying around this zone.
Since this creature is always on the move, you’ll need to time your net right. If not, it will escape, and you’ll have to wait for it to respawn or look elsewhere. That’s why we recommend a quiet approach. If you’re on your Seikret, approach the area at the slowest possible speed and then shoot your net to capture it. Doing so will give you 5 Guild Points. After that, return to Samin to complete the quest.
As a reward, Samin will give you 5 Blue Mushrooms and 10 pieces of Honey. They might not seem too useful if you already know where to farm those materials, but “free” ingredients are always welcome.
