If the Fallout universe shows anything, it’s that radiation causes incredible damage to wildlife. Mutated creatures like Anglers are one of many things that can drag you to an unfortunate death. Surprisingly enough, you want to seek these creatures out in Fallout 76. Killing them provides much-needed resources. Anglers only spawn in set locations in Fallout 76, so if you want to find any, you’ll need to travel to different areas on the map.
Best Angler Locations in Fallout 76
Anglers are aggressive creatures you can find wandering in specific spots in Fallout 76. They look like a mixture of a buff frog and a strange fish. Admittedly, quite a few mutated beasts in the Fallout universe give me the creeps. Anglers sit pretty high up on the list for the simple fact that they blend into their environment too well despite their size. If you’re not careful, they can sneak up on you and land devastating hits.
The best way to circumvent this is to learn about all the Angler locations in Fallout 76. This way, you can at least approach these areas with your guard up. Keep in mind that Anglers like to hide in bodies of water, allowing only their little bioluminescent antennas to stick out. It helps them resemble lure weed. As if they needed another reason to look creepy. Regardless, the best area to search for these vicious beasts in is the Mire region on the eastern side of the map.
Specific Angler Locations
A great thing about Anglers and most other creatures in Fallout 76 is that they generally have preset locations where you can find them. So, you can always head to these areas for a chance to discover some:
- Gnarled Shallows (east of Abbie’s Bunker)
- Far north of Gnarled Shallows (search around the daily quest Queen of the Hunt Site Alpha)
- Thunder Mountain Substation TM-01 (north of Sunday Brother’s Cabin)
- Parking lot of Braxson’s Quality Medical Supplies (northeast of Raleigh’s Clay Bunker)
If, for any reason, you don’t see Anglers spawning in those locations, you can also head over to the Cranberry Bog region and search around Pylon V-13. It’s situated between the Abandoned Bog Town and Drop Site C-2. There’s only a chance that Anglers may spawn there, however, not a guarantee.
The most common locations for Anglers in Fallout 76 are the Gnarled Shallows, the northern area of Gnarled Shallows, and the Thunder Mountain Substation TM-01. If you encounter any issues spawning Anglers, you can always join the Moonshine Jamboree public event. It’s recommended you’re at least Level 50 for it, though, as the event will spawn several enemy types alongside Anglers to battle.
These creatures are certainly intimidating, but hunting down Anglers is more than worth it. They offer Adhesives, Raw Asbestos, and Angler Meat you can cook into Poached Angler that gives you +20 AP for 30 minutes when you consume it. So, gather your best weapons (and maybe some friends) and get to hunting.
Fallout 76 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
