If you’re new to the monster-hunting business, you should know there’s a usual gameplay loop to it. Accept your assignment, check your equipment, and hit the canteen for food. The latter is important because several ingredients in Monster Hunter World provide you with useful bonuses, such as the Gourmet Shroomcaps. Given how they are some of the first reagents players are tasked to find, it can be a bit stressful to obtain them, especially if you’re fresh from the boat. Thankfully, there are some useful tips for hunting down Gourmet Shroomcaps in MHW.

The easiest way to find Gourmet Shroomcaps in MHW is by heading to the Ancient Forest area. Each zone has its own ecosystem, meaning finding some reagents will be easier in certain zones than in others. For Gourmet Shroomcaps, you must look for a Unique Mushroom Colony, which is marked with a pink question mark icon on your map. The closest one is through the small corridor in the Ancient Forest’s default campsite. All you must do is interact with it and gather the ingredients. It is important to note that you won’t always get Gourmet Shroomcaps.

All nodes in the game have a certain cooldown, so if you don’t get any Gourmet Shroomcaps in Monster Hunter World, go kick some monster butt and return to where you found the node. Initially, this ingredient might not seem important, but it is. The Meowscular Chef will give you several optional quests to gather ingredients. We recommend tackling them as fast as possible to unlock new dishes. Consuming food before a hunt is necessary because it’ll buff you up during a fight. Some dishes provide better attack, defense, and even elemental resistance. So don’t neglect this chef’s recipes because they can save your life.
