Even after the apocalypse strikes Los Angeles, some zombies are having fun in the sun. Battling a charred corpse named Sunbather sounds like something a villain from The Walking Dead would cook up. In Dead Island 2, you’ll need to do just that. Conquer this violent vacationer and you’ll claim the Poolside Container Key. That grants access to a special sledgehammer to help you on your zombie-smashing adventures. We wouldn’t want to leave good loot lying around the Halperin Hotel, after all. Here’s how to get the Poolside Container Key in Dead Island 2.

Before you can get the Poolside Container Key you need to complete “Michael Anders and the Holy Grail,” part of the main questline. After wrapping things up at Monarch Studios you can fast-travel to the Halperin Hotel. From there you’ll need to find a particular zombie named Sunbather. Unfortunately, by the time you meet Sunbather, he’ll be more interested in chowing down on your guts than in soaking up rays. Here’s what you need to do next:

  1. Travel to the intersection near the Halperin Hotel (pictured above)
  2. Defeat Sunbather
  3. Grab the Poolside Container Key that Sunbather drops
  4. Go to the hut containing the Poolside Container
  5. Destroy the acid globes around the Poolside Container
  6. Use the Poolside Container Key and claim your reward

Be warned: Sunbather shoots acid from his mouth, so he can hit you at range. He doesn’t have any other tricks up his sleeve, however, so dodge his acid attacks and keep up the offensive, and he should go down quickly. Using the Poolside Container Key in Dead Island 2 gets you the Puncturator Composite Sledgehammer, a beefy melee weapon ideal for demolition projects and anti-zombie warfare. The next Sunbather to cross your path is going to need more than SPF 50.

Dead Island 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
