Protective gear comes in many shapes and forms in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but it isn’t always clear where to get it. For fledgling adventurers or those who have reached big cities like Vernworth or Bakbattahl, you’ll want to narrow down places to check. Here’s where you can buy armor, clothing, and other protective gear in Dragon’s Dogma 2!

For beginners, small villages won’t have a dedicated armorer. You can instead buy armor from local provisioners or apothecaries early in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Their icons are marked as a potion bottle on your map. When you unlock a new vocation for you or a pawn, you’re automatically given that vocation’s starting armor and weapons. This means you can save your money unless you’re later in the game and desperately need upgrades.

Armorers are commonly where you can buy armor and clothing in Dragon’s Dogma 2, marked by a helmet icon on your map. Your likely earliest interaction with these stores will be in Vernworth aside from small villages. Their locations are marked with signs bearing a black and blue shield with a yellow helmet and gloves. The later you are in the game and the further you cross the map, the better your chances are for superior armor.

How to Upgrade Armor in Dragon’s Dogma 2

You can upgrade armor either at the Armorer or at the Smithy, and the differences between them are superficial. My advice is to buy whatever you need and simply to get everything you have upgraded wherever you go. Initial upgrades are always a small amount of gold ascending in cost depending on the item’s rarity. Higher levels need other crafting materials on top of the gold fee.

This is an equally important part of outfitting your party, especially when you get new gear. Even a fully upgraded armor set from earlier in your playthrough can easily be surpassed when you buy and upgrade new gear. It also helps that more expensive armor looks better on your characters, so you can nail your next fit check. After all, there’s no law against looking good while reclaiming what you’ve lost as the Arisen!
