The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons are both available on the Nintendo Switch, but which Zelda Oracle game should you try first? The Zelda Oracle games are a pair of titles that were released on the Game Boy Color in 2001. The Zelda Oracle games function similarly to the Pokemon titles. While Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons are nearly identical games, the differences between the titles make each title unique. Since the two games are different, which Zelda Oracle game is best to play first?

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons were included in the Nintendo Switch’s Online membership. Both titles were added to the console as part of the July 2023 update. The only way to play either game on the Switch is by paying for the Switch Online membership. A year of Nintendo Online subscription costs $19.99, while a monthly plan costs $3.99.

The Zelda Oracle games will be on the Nintendo Online app on your Switch. The Online membership has a robust line-up of classic games you can play besides Zelda. Other titles include NES and Super Nintendo games.

Which Zelda Oracle game you should play first depends on your playstyle.

The main difference between Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons is that one game focuses more on combat, whereas the other centers on puzzles. Oracle of Ages is mostly about the puzzles and problem-solving that the Zelda franchise is known for. On the other hand, Oracle of Seasons is more about fighting and confronting enemies.

Other than that, Ages and Seasons are remarkably similar in almost every other way. The setting and story are slightly different, but nothing major. However, Ages is often regarded as the harder title of the two Zelda Oracle games. Seasons has some difficult bosses, but the game is easier.

Ultimately, what title you want to play first depends on your preferred playstyle and what difficulty you want. If you prefer puzzle-solving and a challenge, you should play Ages first. If you’re more action and adventure focus, Seasons should be your first.

Where do The Zelda Oracle Games Take Place on The Timeline?

The Zelda Oracle Games appear to take place in the same timeframe in parallel timelines. The official timeline lists Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages as one entry, suggesting the games do take place in the same timeframe.

The Zelda Oracle Games happen in The Hero is Defeated timeline that splinters off after Ocarina of Time. Ages and Seasons happen after the events of A Link to the Past but before Link’s Awakening.
