A Florida man decided he had had enough and took to the internet to vent his frustrations. What was the issue? He, a White man, is tired of being mistaken for a cop when visiting Black-owned bars. In his own words, he loves Black culture and Black women.
The man in question is Jersey Jon, who periodically posts about his quest to find a “Black queen.” And while apparently he is well-liked by the people he meets, he is oftentimes mistaken for a police officer. After writing, “It gets old. I just love black culture,” Jersey Jon went off in a viral 35-second clip.
He detailed that he frequently visits bars that are Black-owned and play “Black music” to enjoy the vibe and “find a beautiful Black woman.” However, visiting new bars can be a hassle for him.
“But please. Why every time I go to a bar for the first time, everybody thinks I’m a cop?” the Florida man wondered. “Just because I have a bald head and I’m white does not mean that I’m a cop.”
Jon then explained that people usually refrain from speaking to him the first time he visits Black-owned bars. It usually takes a couple of times for him to make new acquaintances, as regulars grow accustomed to him. He insisted, “Just because I’m white, I’m not a cop.”
Clip Goes Viral, The Cop Allegations Continued
The clip went viral, garnering millions of views and hundreds of thousands of likes. Users, believing he was joking, even checked out the rest of his TikToks. They were surprised to learn that Jon’s infatuation with the Black culture was not a one-time occurrence, with him remaining consistent throughout the years. He also appears to have a biracial daughter.
Still, some needed proof, leaning into the hilarious clip posted by the Florida man. “If not cop, why cop shaped?” one user asked. Another person said, “You got the voice too im crying.” A third added, “To be fair, when I see one black man in a bar with all whites, I also think he is a cop.”
In a follow-up clip, Jon said he had a great time with all the people commenting on his previous clip. He called Black women the “greatest thing God put on this planet,” and again clarified that he was, in fact, not a cop. He also called Black people the “funniest [expletive] people on the planet,” and that it’s “great” that they came together to “attack him.”
