President Donald Trump recently attended the NATO Summit in The Hague, Netherlands. It seems his whole White House staff eagerly awaited his return to the US since they showered Trump with praise, notably calling him “Daddy” once he was back in DC. In fact, the White House officially created not just one music video for Trump’s return, but two; the only problem was that both of them weirded out most people.
The post and two videos in question were made and posted by none other than the official Instagram page for the White House. Initially, they uploaded a Trump video with the accompanying music “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)” by Usher on June 26. They weren’t content with just that, as they also created another crude video with the same music uploaded just today.
It appears the White House also plans to sell official Trump shirts based on the viral meme video they created when Trump returned from the Netherlands. For the record, Trump went to the Netherlands to discuss strategic directions for potential alliances or to maintain existing ones, especially now that another war has erupted. Hence, the first White House video was a homage to Trump’s visit to the NATO Summit.
The irony is that Usher, the artist who created the song back in 2010, and the one responsible for the whole idea, is actually a Kamala Harris supporter. He voted for Trump’s opponent in the 2024 election. In any case, it’s likely not just Usher disapproving of the use of his song for official White House business, but also a big chunk of the viewers.
People Can’t Believe What They Just Saw
Apart from the irony of the song choice, the White House delving into memes is something that raised many eyebrows. Some have shaken their heads disapprovingly at the attempt to glorify Trump’s visit to the NATO Summit, while others feel like it’s not appropriate for something that formal.
Nonetheless, the meme is funny for most people who saw it, though people who didn’t like the Trump administration proceeded to make fun of the White House and conservatives who now call their president “daddy.” In any case, there’s a chance you might see the new Trump Daddy t-shirt design out in public paired with the iconic red cap and the grumpy glare.
“This is so cringe. Imagine calling Trump ‘daddy.’ Thatโs the most pathetic thing Iโve ever heard. Please, Republicans, tell me you like to call Trump your daddy. You know you donโt,” complains jjmccullough
“I’m sure ‘Daddy’ was home in those Epstein files,” suggests juandollarmeal
“Does anti DEI committee approve of this song selection?” asks hellonecole
