The reality of Donald Trump taking over the White House come Janaury continues to put panic in the hearts of many, especially the women of The View. On Monday’s episode, the co-hosts got into a heated argument about how those anxious about the Republican’s second administration should prepare for the tough times ahead.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg began the discussion, urging viewers not to be fraught despite Trump’s daily threats. It is no news that he has vowed to crack down heavily on illegal immigration. There are also reports that Trump plans to use the DOJ to go after his political opponents. “He says he’s going to do all these things…He does this to keep you all in a panic,” Goldberg said of the President-elect before telling fans:
‘All we have to do, from now until January 21st, is be with our families, be with our kids, do our jobs, make sure our checks don’t bounce, make sure that we are taking care of ourselves and our families.”
She continued, “Whatever he’s going to do, he’s going to do. But do take our word for it; things seem to move slowly.” The co-host then cited the case of Trump’s threat to jail Hilary Clinton for her email scandal. She noted that he didn’t follow through despite all the noise.
Ana Navarro Warns ‘The View’ Listeners To Prepare For Trump’s Winter
However, co-host Ana Navarro didn’t support Goldberg’s encouraging and hopeful recommendation. The political strategist vehemently countered her co-host’s opinion.
“I told you last week I disagree with you when you say that, because we have the luxury of saying that, because we’re legal, we are successful,” she explained. “If you’re an illegal immigrant in this country, you’re not going to be not in a panic.”
Navarro added, “If you are a woman working for the Department of Defense, you have a right to be in a panic!” However, Goldberg seemed greatly displeased that her co-host encouraged being frantic over calmness. “Ana, you tell people to stay fraught and like this,” she said while demonstrating with her hands in the air. However, Navarro insisted, explaining that she only wanted people to “prepare.” Goldberg immediately fired back, “Do you think they’re not prepared? They are prepared!” However, Navarro maintained her stance: “That means that they can’t be relaxing and enjoying Christmas when winter is coming.”
The Sister Act star then responded, “Winter’s been with us. My point is, we can lay down and do nothing for the next 15 days and then be freaking out for the next four or two years.” However, the CNN commentator stood firm in her opinion, arguing:
“We are in a privileged position that a lot of people who are going to be under his attack are not.”
With tensions rising, fellow host Alyssa Griffin joined the conversation. Griffin, who previously worked with Trump, sided with Goldberg. “I’m on his enemies list, and I’m not panicking,” she explained, but Navarro wouldn’t back down. Finally, Goldberg had the last say.
“Do what you have to do. Take care of your family! And when we know what is happening, when we know what we’re fighting, we’ll get out and fight. That’s what I’m saying,” she explained on The View before moving on to the next topic.
It is not the first time Navarro and Goldberg have butted heads over the message of fear about Trump’s second presidency. However, make no mistake, both women remain vehemently anti-Trump despite their different approaches to surviving him in the White House.
