Despite leaving the show mid-season, Alissa Humber became the villain of Below Deck season 10. Alissa debuted in Below Deck season 10 as one of the stews under the leadership of chief stew Fraser Olender. Although fans expected much from her at the beginning of the season, she quickly unraveled into one of the worst stews on the show. Earlier in the season, Alissa kept appearing in the news due to her constant feuding with fellow crewmate Camille Lamb. The two had a series of altercations at the time, and Camille always got the slack for it.
At the time, most fans thought Camille was the problem because of her attitude. However, deckhand Ben Willoughby once countered the narrative and accused Alissa of gaslighting Camille and taking advantage of her position as a second stew. Still, Ben’s claims did not resonate with many fans until Captain Sandy fired Camille. Since then, Alissa’s picture-perfect stew persona has gradually unraveled for all to see.
For one, she is not as hardworking as she wanted everyone to believe when pushing for Camille’s sack. Many viewers now see she is cut from the same cloth as Camille. She has also had several run-ins with other crew members, including chief stew Fraser Olender, Katie Glaser, and Hayley De Sola Pinto. The stew would later clash with Captain Sandy after she overheard Alissa talking wrong about her.
Although most believed that things would run smoothly after Camille’s sacking, they were all wrong, and fans now believe Alissa was the problem all along. Like Camille, Alissa also got her marching orders from Captain Sandy, and her overall behavior has set her up as the Season 10 villain.
Alissa’s Feud With Camille Lamb
From the beginning of the show, Alissa and Camille never got along. Their drama originated from Camille’s lack of work ethic and poor attitude. As the season progressed, Alissa grew increasingly frustrated with Camille — resulting in the two being involved in several clashes. Alissa even reported Camille to Captain Sandy at some point, and things seemed to improve after that, albeit only temporarily.
Things reached breaking point when the two got into a heated confrontation in front of charter guests. The two got off with a stern warning from Captain Sandy Yawn. However, Camille would later get her marching orders from Sandy after the Captain caught her partying and drinking the night before a charter.
Camille looked like the bad guy throughout their fights on the boat due to her constant complaining and sometimes disrespectfulness. However, Camille was also one of the most exciting crew members on the boat. She was pretty funny and fun during the crew’s occasional hangouts. However, after his departure, Alissa’s entire villainous behavior came to light, and it became evident she was just as much to blame for the feud.
Alissa’s Relationship With Ross McHarg
Besides her feud with Camille, Alissa also got on the nerves of deckhand Katie Glaser due to her flirtation with deckhand Ross McHarg. Katie has had a fling with Ross McHarg all season, which is not hidden from any crewmates. However, when the crew goes out and drinks, Ross and Alissa always end up flirting openly with each other. The situation caused Katie some pain and discomfort, but Alissa did not care. However, Alissa defended her actions after her exit from the show. During an interview with E! she spoke about the duo’s “boatmance,” saying:
“The whole Katie and Ross thing is so silly to me,” she said. “I asked Ross right to his face, are you single? Are you and Katie a thing? And he told me ‘no,’ and I went to Katie, and I told her.”
Still, till her departure from the series, Alissa never turned down the opportunity to get close and personal with Ross. Despite her cordial relationship with Katie, Alissa didn’t show her any respect flirting with Ross.
Alissa’s Disrespect Towards Chief Fraser Olender
Camille’s poor attitude helped cover up Alissa’s shortcomings, with most of the focus on the former. However, fans saw Alissa’s villain colors after Camille left the show. The second stew got on the nerves of several of the other crew members, including the gentle chief stew Fraser Olender. She showcased her poor attitude and lack of respect for a superior on several occasions, often talking back at Fraser disrespectfully. She also found it difficult to make corrections and regularly undermined his authority.
Without a doubt, Alissa has contributed to why Fraser’s first stint on Below Deck as chief stew has been complex. The Below Deck Chief Stew has had a torrid time during his first charter as a leader. Fraser’s first reign would have been much easier without Alissa’s constant insubordination and her feud with crew mates.
Alissa’s Disregard for Captain Sandy Yawn
Alissa’s final straw on Below Deck Season 10 came when she clashed with Captain Sandy after she came down on the interior crew. During the confrontation, Sandy called chief stew Fraser “a cancer” and slammed all the interior crew. She had also caught them gossiping about her due to the tension on board between the Captain and the crew.
However, during a conversation with the Captain, Alissa wrongly addressed her, replying, “Yes, Sandy, I mean Captain.” Although the stew played it off as a mistake, Captain Sandy felt it was a total lack of respect. She would later call the stew in to send her off the boat, claiming to fail to address her correctly “was the f**k you in my face.” Captain Sandy accused Alissa of failing to respect and recognize hierarchy, noting,
“Yesterday was the [last] straw for me. Your insubordination and lack of respect is insurmountable. No matter what job you work in, respect for hierarchy is a must. I’m letting you go.”
After months on the boat, Alissa ended her time with a dismissal which she deserved due to her controversial behavior. One could also argue she instigated and caused Camille’s sacking since the stew only had problems with her and no one else. Meanwhile, Alissa was the villain, who clashed with almost everyone before her departure, and her time on the franchise won’t be remembered fondly.
