Throughout season 3 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher was locked in an intense “boatmance” with bosun Gary King. Despite the apparent chemistry between the two, their relationship failed to blossom. Gary’s philandering attitude derailed their promising romance. Nonetheless, this didn’t stop the two from maintaining a close friendship. Gary even teased that something serious could still develop between them in the future. Fans eagerly anticipated the new Bravo spin-off, hoping the two would finally ignite their romance in the fourth installment.
However, that bubble burst with the emergence of a surprise romance between Daisy and Chief Engineer Colin McRae. Gary didn’t mind his friend’s pursuit of Daisy, as he initially focused on pursuing Mads Herrera. Daisy and Colin’s relationship flourished, culminating in a passionate kiss during a memorable episode. As fans got used to the idea of a “Daisy and Colin” romance, the situation featured a new twist. Gary surprisingly moved toward Daisy again. Although things have remained civil so far, the recently released mid-season trailer for the remaining episodes has teased a lot of drama. It shows how their love triangle deteriorates into a brilliant mess.
Gary Is Only Jealous Of Colin and Daisy
During the June 5 episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4, Colin and Daisy felt the need to separate clear things with Gary after a steamy kissing session. However, Gary kept the drama rolling by alternating the type of answers he gave depending on who was asking. And this has caused many of the show’s fans to call him out for his snaky behavior, with some of them even accusing him of being jealous of Colin and Daisy.
With things seemingly getting severe between the duo, Colin runs it by his former wingman. Gary doesn’t waste any time emphasizing that he is perfectly cool with Colin dating Daisy. He even denies having any feelings for Daisy while declaring that he would love to see the both of them in a relationship. Much to the viewers’ surprise, Gary sings an entirely different tune during his conversation with Daisy. Gary tries to get in her head by admitting he is jealous of her situation with Colin. Gary then explained his previous romance with Daisy didn’t work because he was afraid. In his words,
“Maybe I’m a coward in that sense. And I’m too scared to see what your reaction’s gonna be, so I’m happy to tell everyone else [I like you] because that’s how I feel, and I’m just too scared to tell you.”
Gary also tried to blame Daisy for how things turned out between them. He claimed she pushed him away at the start of the season. However, Daisy quickly reminded him that he had been hooking up with Mads Herrera for three weeks. However, she only got together with Colin recently. Although it seemed like Daisy had caught up with the game he was playing, the Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 mid-season trailer proved different. The trailer showed the two still engaged in some heated back and forth about their past. Some of the drama would eventually get to Colin.
The ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ Romance Threatens Gary and Colin’s Friendship
Gary and Colin have shared a cabin for three consecutive seasons, which has helped them forge a strong friendship through the years. Gary’s denial of his feelings for Daisy and subsequent advances toward her will clash with Colin’s intentions. Gary seems to have allowed his jealousy to completely consume him as the mid-season trailer shows him going gung-ho for Daisy.
Although Gary told Colin he approved of his relationship with Daisy, the chief engineer knew he was only pretending. Colin claimed that while Gary was saying one thing, his facial expression truly reflected his feelings. However, Gary proves Colin right in the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 mid-season trailer. He unsurprisingly admits his feelings to Daisy in one scene. Daisy seemingly catches his game when she responds,
“You f—ing could have had me a million times over, and you didn’t want me,” Daisy says to Gary. “Now that you can’t have me, now you f—ing want me.”
However, Gary continues to press Daisy and drops a bomb about their past sexual encounter when he says, “Having sex with you was f—ing amazing.” Daisy quickly shushes him, visibly embarrassed by his comments, warning him not to keep quiet about their past. Unsurprisingly, the gist eventually finds its way to Colin, and while he claims it explains many things, he still couldn’t get past Gary’s deception.
Things seemed perfectly positioned for an all-out war between the best friends. However, Daisy will also have to deal with some of the drama. In the mid-season trailer, the chief stew explodes angrily, telling Colin or Gary to get out of her head. From the evidence, this is shaping into one messy love triangle. Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans would want to experience all parts of the drama as it unfolds.
