After the big hit that Dead Cells was, the studio behind it announced Windblown during The Game Awards 2023. If you didn’t see the trailer, this new title brings many features from Dead Cells in a fast-paced roguelike game that we can’t wait to play. So, if you’re looking for the next big game of the genre full of cute characters that explore, implode, or get cut into pieces, this might be the one for you. Also, the game isn’t far away from reaching its Early Access period.

The date is uncertain, but in 2024, players can experience this new roguelike title. You’ll take the role of a Leaper tasked with protecting one of the many ever-changing islands in the game. To do so, you’ll use the memories from past warriors to obtain new skills to help you progress through the game. The roguelike elements weren’t shown entirely, but we can imagine something akin to how Dead Cells worked. In any case, the studio has mastered the formula, and watching it unfold in a new environment is fantastic.

This year was fantastic for roguelike games, and thanks to the latest trailer of Windblown during The Game Awards, we are hopeful for 2024. Since the game is launching on Early Access next year, we imagine we’ll see more information as time passes. The release date is still uncertain, but from what we saw, the game is looking great for a release; however, we’re only speculating.

There are many more indie games coming next year and some big AAA titles as well, so it seems our backlog will only get bigger. But if you can’t wait for some hectic roguelike action, be sure to check the game’s official site and add it to your wishlist so you can be one of the first to become a Leaper.
