Recently released WNBA‘s Brittney Griner loses her signature locks in Russian prison due to freezing temperatures. Her attorney, Maria Blagovolina, disclosed to ESPN that the prison temperatures cause hair freezing.
The 32-year-old Basketball star got a haircut two Sundays ago because her locks kept freezing anytime she takes a shower. The attorney further stated that Griner had to cut off her hair to deal with the issue. Although she could have waited until new year’s day to do the needful, the star had to avoid health issues from the freezing.
She had carried the hair for several years without it getting shorter than shoulder-length. But her hand were tied at that point.

Brittney Griner Looks Good Despite Losing Signature Look While Leaving Russian Prison
The WNBA star and Viktor Bout met on the tarmac of a UAE airport after the United States agreed to a prisoner swap with Russia. The Thursday footage was captured by the Russian state TASS.
As seen in the footage of her release from the Russian prison, Brittney Griner was seen without her signature locks. She was spotted wearing a red jacket and walking with officials outside of private planes before coming in contact with Bout. She was then swapped with the arms dealer.
The last time she was seen at a court hearing, she still had her locks long and in position. Losing the hair didn’t seem to bother Griner who told someone on the plane that she was good and happy.
The basketballer has been detained in the Russian state since February on allegations that she had hashish oil in her possession at a Moscow airport. She was sentenced to nine years behind bars as a result.
Losing her signature locks in the Russian prison is the least of Brittney Griner’s problems at this point. She’s happy to reunite with her wife, Cherelle Griner, who was ecstatic that she was on her way home.
