It’s no secret that women are not safe walking at night in almost any part of the world; it’s just a fact. It doesn’t seem to matter what she could be doing; some men will feel entitled to following, stalking, or even forcefully putting themselves between a woman and their destination. Unfortunately, that’s what happened in New York City not long ago when a woman was followed by a man. However, the woman had the right mind to record the interaction, which was later posted to Reddit.

Woman confronts man who won’t stop following her in NYC

The video depicts a woman walking at night through NYC. She captions everything that happens, including looking into a store window while walking, only to see that she’s being followed. Though she doesn’t show it, she claims that she has a knife in her hands to the viewers, though she wishes it were a taser or pepper spray. Eventually, she gets incredibly brave and turns around to confront the man who walks past her.

She then stands still as she watches the man and notices that he stops in his tracks shortly after walking past her. This is where the video gets really interesting, and she begins to loudly ask what he is doing. Before the situation can escalate further, two other people who had heard the commotion begin approaching. This was enough the get the man to finally leave.

The replies quickly filled with people criticizing the man’s actions, wishing that the woman recording had turned the camera on him at some point.

“she needed to turn that camera on the dude. Just incase something did happen.”

Other commenters noted different ways that the woman could feel safe. In fact, many replies stated that of everything she could buy, bear mace and pepper spray would probably be her best bet.

“1000% get pepper spray. Hopefully after this they decided to. Knives are nice and all but it takes a lot of willpower to actually stab a person and leaves you vulnerable to plenty of other attacks.”

Hopefully, the woman in the video will never need to experience this again and the man was apprehended before trying to stalk someone else. Who knows what his true intentions were.
