Becoming independent is not easy, especially when you have to manage household chores and work. When you have a family, tasks such as cleaning and cooking become more intense, so you would expect others to be grateful. However, not everyone is the same, and this happened to a woman in Illinois who says her boyfriend often rejects the dishes she cooks. The rest of the world disagrees with the boyfriend, as they seem to enjoy what she cooks.
The redditor moonrabbit368 shared in r/mildlyinfuriating what she has been living with her partner for several months. According to this woman from Illinois, the most complicated part of this relationship is that her boyfriend rejects many of the dishes she cooks. The woman claims that she has cooked for family gatherings and church events, where many people have complimented her delicious cooking. Even her children happily eat her dishes, even though children are usually the most finicky diners, especially if they hate vegetables.
This woman has tried changing recipes, experimenting in the kitchen, and cooking dishes that her boyfriend supposedly likes. However, OP says the man’s dietary rules keep changing. Apparently, her boyfriend has excuses such as not being able to eat chicken one day because he already had it for lunch, or that he is “in the mood” for pork chops. The truth is, he generally avoids ingredients such as onions, tomatoes, fish, and most vegetables. Another problem is that the boyfriend does not eat food reheated in the microwave because he completely discards leftovers from the previous day. To make matters worse, he does not know how to cook, but he expects her to continue cooking, and if he does not like something, he prefers to order delivery.
“I’m loving how many women just offered to be your new boyfriend,” said BoochClawson.
“I would not even factor him into your dinner planning. He’s a grown man, and if he wants to be that picky, he can sort himself out,” commented International_Bat585.
Many users agreed that OP is in an unequal relationship and that her boyfriend should be more supportive in making cooking easier. Not only is this woman responsible for cooking all the meals, but she also has several children and is studying. So the boyfriend could start helping in the kitchen, communicating his needs better, or always eating takeout. Other Redditors say that this problem with food could also be a sign of ASD or ADHD, so this couple could work on making this challenge more bearable.
